Caring for One Another
Caring for each other, whether in times of need, joy, or in the midst of everyday life, is something that we see as an important part of our life at St James.
Prayer Chain
The prayer chain is a group of 12-15 parishioners (plus the Rector) who are committed to pray for those in need, whether they are parishioners, their families or members of the wider community. We communicate by e-mail or phone regarding both urgent and ongoing prayer requests.
Helping Hands
We all know that at times of crisis, sometimes getting the everyday
chores done is difficult. One way we help parishioners in times of special need is when members of our parish prepare and bring meals to them, letting them know we are thinking of and praying for them.
"Church at home"
For those who can't get out to church, sometimes it helps to "have church at home." We have a number of parishioners, called Eucharistic Visitors, who visit those who are housebound or in nursing homes, and bring them the Eucharist along with the weekly bulletin and sermon.
Pineapple Corps
The Pineapple Corps welcomes newcomers to the parish and helps them with their involvement and incorporation into the life of the parish. They visit those new to the church, bringing them information on the church and its current
programs, giving them a small gift, and answering any questions they may have.
